My First Super-8: Royal Wedding Weekend / Drifters aboard the Albatros 29/4/11 - 1/5/11

My First Super-8: Royal Wedding Weekend / Drifters aboard the Albatros 29/4/11 - 1/5/11 Video Clips. Duration : 3.63 Mins.

I bought a Hamimex CPM 31 at a Car boot sale for a quid. Had to see if it worked and the Royal Wedding and the Loose Leaf Drifters' upcoming gig on a real live sailing ship seemed like two ideal opportunities, conveniently both falling on the same weekend. It was clear from the outset that the results would be patchy - the light meter was duff, and I had no idea what the dial marked "SL R RL" on the front did. The black moments were filmed on board the ship, during the gig - filmed from the stage. Hope you enjoy the furious action in those bits....the darkness represents the cruelty of the sea..or something. I guess the Hanimex isn't too keen on the indoors. The white bits are filmed on deck. It seems it hates the outdoors too. Luckily the street party moments were shot on an overcast day. The blurring comes from me manually zooming by twisting the lens (the belt drive for the zoom has long ago perished). Still, the 1970s look suits the occasion rather well... Cost me £36 for devopment and telecine to mini dv from Blue Cine Tech (yes they do sound like pornographers, but I assure you they are not). Derek transferred from mini dv, titling it "scumbag wedding film" (he's one of them socialists it seems). Enjoy....
